Once Filmroll turns your iPhone into a disposable camera for shared events. You create a film, invite guests to shoot together, and nobody sees any photos until the film develops at a time you choose — just like getting a roll of film back from the lab. Perfect for weddings, parties, trips, and any moment worth capturing together.
Tap the + button on the home screen. Give your film a name, set a reveal time, choose a filter style, and tap Create. Your film is ready to share immediately via QR code or invite link.
Open any film and tap the QR code / invite button. You can show a QR code for guests to scan in person, or copy a link to share via iMessage, email, or any other app. Anyone with the link can join and start shooting.
Guests can join a film as anonymous participants using just the invite link — no account required. They'll need to download the Once Filmroll app to take photos, but signing up is optional for guests.
Yes, film creators need an account. You can sign in with Apple (recommended for privacy) or with your email address. Creating an account is free.
Taking Photos
No — and that's the magic. Photos are hidden from everyone, including the film owner, until the film develops. This creates an authentic, suspenseful disposable camera experience where the reveal is the payoff.
Film owners can set a shot limit per guest when creating the film. If no limit is set, guests can take unlimited photos during the capture window. The remaining shot count is shown in the camera view.
Yes. Once Filmroll supports both photos and short video clips. Videos are subject to the same reveal rules as photos — nobody sees them until the film develops.
Once Filmroll includes several film-style filters including Vintage, Black & White, and Original. The filter is chosen when creating the film and applies to all photos taken in that film, giving the whole album a cohesive look.
Yes, film owners and guests can import photos from their camera roll via the ••• menu inside any film. Imported photos follow the same reveal rules as in-app captures.
Film Development & Reveal
Photos reveal at the exact date and time you set when creating the film. You can also choose "After Event" mode, which reveals photos automatically once the capture window closes. All guests are notified the moment photos are available.
Yes. Film owners can adjust the reveal time at any point before it passes. Open the film, tap the ••• menu, and go to Film Settings to change the reveal time.
All photos and videos appear at once in the film's album. Everyone who joined can see every shot captured during the event. You can save individual photos to your Camera Roll, react to photos with emojis, and share the entire album via a link.
Film owners can enable a Host Preview option in the film settings. Guests never have early access to photos — the reveal is always simultaneous for everyone.
Yes. Developed films are permanently stored in your Once Filmroll account and can be revisited at any time in the Films tab. This is your permanent memory vault — a timeline of every event you've captured together.
Account & Settings
Go to Settings → Profile inside the app to update your display name and profile picture. Your name is shown to other guests in films you join or create.
Open the film, tap the ••• menu in the top right corner, and select Leave Film. You can rejoin later using the original invite link.
Go to the film's settings via the ••• menu → Film Settings → Delete Film. This permanently removes the film and all photos for every participant. This action cannot be undone.
Go to Settings → Delete Account. This permanently deletes your account, all your films, all photos you've taken, and all associated data. Films you created where others have photos will also be deleted. This action cannot be undone. Alternatively, email support@filmroll.app and we'll process your deletion request manually.
Go to iPhone Settings → Once Filmroll → Notifications to manage your notification preferences. You can turn off all notifications or customize which types you receive.
Privacy & Data
We collect your name, email address, and a unique user ID for account functionality. Photos and videos you capture are stored securely and linked to your account. Precise location is collected only if you grant permission. We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for cross-app tracking of any kind.
Once Filmroll uses on-device machine learning to detect and cluster faces across your films — helping you identify recurring people like friends and family. This analysis happens privately on your device and in your personal account only. Face data is never shared with other users, third parties, or advertisers.
If you grant location access, Once Filmroll tags your photos with GPS coordinates so you can see where films were captured on a map. Location data is stored privately in your account and is never shared with other users unless you explicitly share an album.
Your data is stored securely on Supabase infrastructure hosted in the United States. All data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS. Photos and videos are stored in secure, access-controlled cloud storage.
Delete your account in Settings → Delete Account inside the app. This permanently removes all data including your profile, films, and photos. You can also email support@filmroll.app with "Data Deletion Request" in the subject line and we'll process it within 30 days.
No. Once Filmroll does not use any third-party advertising SDKs or tracking frameworks. We do not display ads, share data with data brokers, or participate in cross-app advertising networks. The app is completely ad-free.
Troubleshooting
Check your internet connection — Once Filmroll requires an active connection to upload photos. Photos taken offline are queued and sync automatically when you reconnect. You'll see a sync indicator on the home screen while uploads are in progress. If syncing is stuck, close and reopen the app.
First, try closing and reopening the app. If the issue persists, make sure you're running the latest version from the App Store. For persistent crashes, go to iPhone Settings → General → iPhone Storage, find Once Filmroll, offload the app, then reinstall it. If the problem continues, email us with your device model and iOS version.
Make sure you have the latest version of Once Filmroll installed from the App Store. If the link opens in Safari instead of the app, tap "Open in Once Filmroll" at the top of the page. If the link shows a 404 error, the film may have been deleted by its owner or the invite link may have expired.
Go to iPhone Settings → Once Filmroll → Notifications and ensure notifications are turned on. Also check that Focus / Do Not Disturb mode isn't blocking notifications. If notifications are enabled but still not arriving, try signing out and back into your account in the app's Settings.
Pull down to refresh the film page. The countdown is based on your device's clock — make sure your iPhone's time is set to automatic in Settings → General → Date & Time → Set Automatically. If the countdown still looks wrong, close the app completely and reopen it.
If you signed up with Apple, use Sign in with Apple on the login screen — Apple manages the authentication. If you used email, tap Forgot Password on the sign-in screen to receive a reset link. If you're still locked out, email support@filmroll.app with the email associated with your account.
